For a watertight, professional finish you'll need:
Will it actually look like real marble?
From normal viewing distance, yes. Modern UV-printed gloss panels are remarkably convincing. Up close (under 30cm) you can see the print pattern; from across the room, it reads as marble.
Is it really 100% waterproof?
Yes — PVC is non-porous so water cannot soak in. With proper trims and silicone, suitable for direct shower spray.
How does it compare to glass shower panels?
Glass costs £300–£800/m² fitted; PVC marble around £25/m² DIY. Glass is more premium feel; PVC is far cheaper, easier to install and Class 1 fire-rated.
Can I cut it myself?
Yes — fine-tooth hand saw, jigsaw with fine wood blade, or score-and-snap with a sharp Stanley knife. Always cut on the patterned face for cleanest edge.
Will it discolour from heat or steam?
Heat-stable to standard kitchen and bathroom temperatures. UV-stabilised against yellowing. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight.
Will it show fingerprints?
Yes, mildly — wipe with microfibre cloth. Less of an issue at hob/sink height than on a worktop.
