Acoustic performance

  • Absorption type: mid- and high-frequency (vocal range)
  • Mechanism: slatted face + felt backing absorbs sound rather than reflecting
  • Best at: reducing echo, reverb, flutter echo within a room
  • NOT for: blocking sound transmission between rooms (isolation, not absorption)
  • Equivalent to: Class C–D acoustic absorber depending on application (specific NRC values available on request)

Fire safety

Important: Acoustic wood-slat panels are NOT typically Class 0 or Class 1 rated under UK BS 476-7. They are decorative interior finishes intended for residential use in living rooms, bedrooms, offices and similar dry, low-risk locations.

Do not install acoustic panels:

  • Behind hobs, cookers, ranges or wood burners
  • On escape routes, in HMOs (without specialist confirmation)
  • In commercial public spaces without a fire-safety review
  • Within 1.5m of any open flame

Care & maintenance

  • Vacuum monthly with soft brush attachment
  • Wipe wood face with barely-damp microfibre cloth
  • Don't wet-clean the felt backing
  • Real wood veneer darkens slowly over years — a desirable patina
  • Avoid prolonged direct sunlight (uneven darkening risk)

Lifespan and warranty

  • Expected lifespan: 15–20+ years indoor use
  • Standard manufacturer warranty against material defects
