How to install PVC ceiling panels
Fix to existing ceiling joists or to timber battens screwed to the ceiling. Use the tongue-and-groove edges to lock each panel into the previous one, finishing with PVC trims at the perimeter. A typical small ceiling can be done in 3–5 hours with two people.
PVC Ceiling Panels — Frequently Asked Questions
Can PVC ceiling panels be fitted over an existing ceiling?
Yes. Most installs use timber battens screwed across the existing ceiling, with the PVC panels fixed onto the battens — no need to strip the old ceiling.
Are they suitable for bathrooms?
Yes — they are 100% waterproof and mould-resistant. Ideal for steamy bathrooms and shower rooms where painted or Artex ceilings tend to peel.
What length and width are the panels?
2.6m long × 250mm wide × 8mm thick, sold in packs of 4 covering 2.6m².
Do I need extra trims?
Yes — for a clean perimeter finish, use matching PVC trims and end caps.
Can downlights be fitted into PVC ceiling panels?
Yes — cut a hole with a hole-saw and fit fire-rated downlights as you would in plasterboard. Always follow manufacturer guidance for the light fitting.
